Mr. Benjamin Johnson of Colquitt, GA died on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Donalsonville Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Cooks Union Church with Rev. Jean Watson and Rev. Jonathan Prickett officiating. Interment will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery with full military honors, with Chris Hayes, Rex Cook, Daniel Johnson, Ledon Johnson, Jarrett Cook, and Lawton Bevis serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gerald Grow Post #165 American Legion. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, at Cooks Union Church.
Mr. Johnson retired from the Army as a Sergeant Major. He was a member of Cooks Union Church, as well as a member of the William M. Wilson VFW post #6046 and the Gerald Grow Post #165 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Jewann Johnson of Colquitt, GA; one son, David (Holly) Johnson of Murphy, NC; two daughters, Donna (Rex) Cook of Colquitt, GA and Lisa (Chris) Hayes of Ft. Gaines, GA; four grandchildren, Daniel (Raquel) Johnson of Gainesville, GA, Jarrett (Destin) Cook of Roswell, GA, Alexis Myers of Thomasville, GA, and Lawton Bevis of Ft. Gaines, GA; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Myers, Emma Johnson, Camden Cook, and Ansley Cook, arriving in June. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilven Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Ledon Johnson, and Milton Johnson; and parents, Clarence and Agnes Gordon Johnson.
The family will be accepting flowers, as well as donations to Cooks Union Church.
