Bobby Joe Smith

Bobby Joe Smith, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this life on July 25, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on March 9, 1939, in Seminole County, Georgia, Bobby was the cherished son of Robert (Bob) and Coy Smith, whose values and love shaped the man he became.

Bobby was predeceased by his parents, siblings Jesse Merle Cleveland, Travis Smith, and Larry Smith, daughters Tamzen (Sissy) Smith and Celeste Michelle Smith, and granddaughter Laura Leigh Darley. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Carolyn Gail Smith, with whom he shared a beautiful life journey after marrying on March 4, 1961, in Thomasville, Georgia. Together, they raised a large and loving family, including their children: Bobby Smith (Chastity), Teddy Smith (Kim), Rhonda Glover, Victor Smith (Joanna), Clint Smith, Sherwin Smith (MaKayla), and Olivia Suggs (Jason).

Bobby's legacy thrives through his grandchildren: Kristi Wallace, Dane Philyaw, Cody Philyaw, Jacob Smith, Kaitlyn Smith, Brianna Smith, Dalton Smith (Maggie), Hannah Hodges (Hunter), Karson Smith, Brandon Smith, Cameron Smith, Asher Suggs, Graham Suggs, and Rowan Smith, as well as his great-grandchildren: RaeLynn Smith, Huxley Hodges, Bhodie Philyaw, and Ella Rae Smith. His sister, Phyllis Regan, also survives him, along with numerous friends and extended family members who cherished his presence.

After graduating from Miller County High School in 1958, Bobby pursued a vocational degree in plumbing and electrical work. His career in irrigation services began in 1971, culminating in the establishment of Smith Irrigation in 1994. Bobby's dedication and hard work were evident until his retirement at age 75, leaving a lasting impact on the community he served.

A dedicated member and former Deacon of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church, Bobby lived his faith through service and fellowship. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, which included fishing, hunting, and raising cattle. He found joy in the simple pleasure of swinging on his patio, surrounded by family and nature's beauty. He was also a proud member of the Miller County Saddle Club.

Bobby was known for his quick wit and warm smile, which were as infectious as his love for life. He had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives with his generosity and kindness.

A funeral service to honor Bobby's life will be held on July 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church, located at 2543 Ash Crossing Rd, Iron City, GA 39859. Interment will follow in Corinth Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Colquitt Funeral Home.
