Charlie Smiley Bailey Jr

Mr. Charlie Smiley Bailey, Jr of Bonifay, FL, formerly of Colquitt, GA, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from a lengthy illness at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL. Mr. Bailey will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Bailey was formerly a truck driver and served in the Army. Smiley was the son of the late Charlie “Buddy” Bailey and his mother, Nellie Bailey. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gene Bailey, all of Colquitt, GA.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Forthman of Bonifay, FL, along with extended family members, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two step-daughters, Tammy (JD) Goff of Bonifay, FL, and Theresa (David) Kelly of Graceville, FL, and one nephew, Christopher Jones of Bonifay, FL

He is survived by his sister, Marynell Bailey Cox of Colquitt, GA; brother, Tommy (Belinda) Bailey of Florence, AL; a daughter, Missy Bailey Ammons; stepson, Bruce McMillian; four grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends.
