Donnie Carol Smith

Donnie Carol Smith passed away on August 12, 2026 at Archbold Hospital Hospice wing in Thomasville, GA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Hoyt Donley, Rev. Joel Hudgins, and Rev. Chase Widner officiating. Interment will follow at Donley Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 AM, at Colquitt Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born on September 28, 1953 at home in Baker County, GA to Reliford and Emma Jean Smith. He grew up with a love of farming and a love of the land, and always knew he wanted to be a farmer and a cowboy. He spent his life doing what he loved. He was a retired farmer, cowboy, and Miller County Gin employee. He was also an avid outdoorsman, and especially loved to fish. He was a member of Mother's Home Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sisters, Sue Hall and Ethel Haire, both of Colquitt; one brother, Dean Smith of Colquitt; one niece, whom he raised like a daughter, Leah (Chase) Widner of Colquitt; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved grand-dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reliford and Emma Jean Smith; one sister, Nita Dykes; sister-in-law, Ann Smith; and brother-in-law Watson Haire.
