Dorothy Darlene McLendon

     Mrs. Dorothy Darlene McLendon of Colquitt, GA died on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Sheffield Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Larry Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Primitive Union Cemetery with Bryan Coleman, David McVey, Brandon Simpson, Tim Maestri, Alen McLendon, and Micah Anderson serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Colquitt Funeral Home.

     Mrs. McLendon was co-owner of McLendon Meat Company, and a member of New Salem Free Will Baptist Church. 

     She is survived by one son, Gary McLendon of Colquitt, GA; two daughters, Rita McVey of Colquitt, GA and Vonda (Don) Coleman of Shellman, GA; sixteen grandchildren, Robert (Jennifer) Blevins, Celena (Micah) Anderson, Marcie (Joshua) Boswell, David (Morgan) McVey, Bryan Coleman, Ashlie (Tim) Maestri, Halie (Brandon) Simpson, Alen (Kim) McLendon, Darlene White, Alettie Mueller, Jeanne Osowski, Darrin McLendon, Erin McLendon, Jarred McLendon, Dorothy McLendon, and Suzi McLendon; and numerous great-grandchildren. Mrs. McLendon was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Chason McLendon; one son, Ivan McLendon; one daughter, Donna McLendon Rosier; son-in-law, Terry McVey; three brothers, Dean Short, Floyd Short, and Carnie Short; and parents, Fred and Violet Mitchell Short.
