Mr. Jerry G. Roland of Colquitt passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Southeast Health. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 11 at 11:00 am at Colquitt Methodist Church with Rev. Cory Thomas officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 am.
Jerry was born in a log cabin in Miller County on April 18, 1943 to the late Boss G. & Margia Roland. He graduated from Miller County High School in 1961 where he was a member of the football team, basketball team, track team and baseball team. He attended Gordon Military College on a football scholarship. Jerry worked for the GDOT for 34 years until his retirement in 1997.
Along with his wife Elizabeth, they made her dream come true by opening Great Gran’s Personal Care Home in 1987. Together they provided loving care to countless residents for over 27 years. In 2005, Jerry and Elizabeth acquired the family farm, Frank Shingler Farms, changing the name to Piney Pond Farms. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He lived his life in a way where actions spoke louder than words. Jerry fiercely loved and took care of his family. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending musical recitals for his Willis boys and watching his Roland babies play sports for the Miller County Pirates. He will be remembered as showing he cared by aggravating everyone.
He is survived by two sons Lance G. Roland and Cleve G. (Mandy) Roland, son-in-law Marshall Willis and brother J.B. (Frankie) Roland. Grandchildren Christopher (Grier) Willis, John (Melissa) Willis, Matt (Kelsey) Willis, Isaiah (Abby) Roland, Ben (Anna Belle) Roland, and Ally Roland. Great-grandchildren Everest, Aria, Rosalie, and Maria and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 46 years Elizabeth Shingler Roland, daughter Anna Roland Willis, parents Boss G. and Margia G. Roland, brother Billy G. Roland and sister Belle R. Wells.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Jerry’s memory.
