Jessie Emory Layton

     Mr. Jessie Emory Layton, 77, a resident of Miller County Nursing Home, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Miller County Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Messer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at Colquitt Funeral Home.

     Mr. Layton is survived by one son, Jessie LaDon Layton; one daughter, Sheila (Lee) Sheffield; five grandchildren, Victor Layton, Justin (Victoria) Whittaker, Joseph Sheffield, Haley Sheffield, and Jonathan Sheffield; ten great-grandchildren, Anna, Nathan, Jordan, Alison, Hayden, Seth, Rayne, Rose, Flint and Kolton; one sister, Dorothy (Gene) O'Hearn; four nieces, Sherry (Ricky) Allen, Glenda (Mike) Nagy, Judy (Terry) Goodman, and Paula (Ed) Hinely; two nephews, Bruce (Amy) Taylor and Calvin (Thanya) Johnson; and the mother of his children, Lynda Dukes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Winnie Lou Richardson; one brother, Carlton Johnson; one sister-in-law, Helen Johnson; one sister, Sara Lou Taylor; one brother-in-law, Winford Taylor; and one niece, Kathy Johnson.
