John Bruce Grant, Sr.

January 29, 1954 – July 8, 2025

John Bruce Grant Sr., born in Columbus Ga. on January 29, 1954, died July 8, 2025 in Colquitt, Ga. John was the first of 2 children born to John Ale Grant and Doris Clenney Grant.

John graduated from Bainbridge Christian Academy, class of 1972. He began his career in the healthcare field as a lab and x-ray technician at Miller County Hospital and other surrounding hospitals. He eventually found his calling as a Nursing Home Administrator at Bainbridge Health Care and a few other nursing homes in the South Georgia area. In 2008 he took over the family business of Colquitt Alternative Care, an assisted living facility. John was an avid golf player and enjoyed woodworking, gifting his family, friends, and co-workers with one of his home-made creations.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Colquitt. The family is receiving friends at the home of his sister, Susan (Steve) Long, 734 Bellview Rd.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Grant, son, John Bruce Grant, Jr., (Jamie) and his wife Allison of Winston, GA, 2 daughters, Heather (Brad) Shiver of Colquitt and Jinger (Chris) Odom of Lake Seminole. He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren, Liam, Aeryn, Cole, Hadley, Brooklyn, and Gunner, and 1 great-grandson TJ , and his sister, Susan (Steve) Long.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Doris C. Grant and a son, John Patrick Hicks.
