Richard D. Morgan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away October 4, 2025 at the age of 57. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rollin Rathel officiating. Interment will follow in the Colquitt City Cemetery with Gerald Worthy, Jeremy Miller, Gene Burke, Sal Martines, Stanley Cook, and Andy Moore serving as active pallbearers. A visitation will be held one hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at Colquitt Funeral Home.

Ric devoted over 25 years of his life to local law enforcement, serving his community with unwavering commitment. Throughout his career, he held numerous roles, including K9 handler, Chief Investigator, Assistant Chief, and ultimately, Sheriff of Miller County. In each position, Richard brought a calm presence and a deep sense of fairness that earned the respect of many.

He was known for his down-to-earth nature and compassionate spirit. Ric treated everyone with kindness and respect, no matter their walk of life. His generosity and willingness to lend a hand left a lasting impact on countless people throughout the community.

Most recently, Ric was passionate about the relationships in his life. He was a faithful member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Donalsonville and poured his time into his friends and family. His friends knew if they needed him, he was only a phone call away. He especially cherished time with his grandbabies; they were his pride and joy.

Ric is survived by his wife, Kathy Morgan of Colquitt, GA; one son, Danny Kyle (Randi) Roberts of Colquitt, GA; one daughter, Kelly (Zack) Landrum of Panama City, FL; two grandsons, Troy and Jordan Landrum, of Panama City, FL; and one half-brother, Shane Morgan of Athens, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother, Lillian Sullivan, and father, Denny Wayne Morgan.
