Thomas Edward Brown, 95, of Colquitt, Georgia passed away September 22, 2026 in his home surrounded by his family. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Bellview Free Will Baptist Church with Roger Merritt and Bro. David Young officiating. Bud Brown, Roger Merritt, Roger Mills, Kreg Freeman, Nolan Freeman, and Jeff Cox will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Clenney, Lavon Clenney, Joe Martin, and Johnny Still. Online visitors may sign the guest registry at www.colquittfuneralhome.info. Thomas Edward Brown was born January 12, 1931 in Colquitt, Georgia the son of W.P. and Bessie Haire Brown. He married Hester Haire and they made their home in Miller County. He was a member of Bellview Free Will Baptist Church and faithfully attended services every Sunday. He raised his children to be faithful and Godly as well. Edward defined Farmer in every sense of the word. He never truly retired from farming and in fact planted his last garden of new potatoes and tomatoes early this year surrounded by his family working beside him as he smiled. He loved the outdoors, he loved family fish fries, and he loved animals, particularly cows and horses. His passion in life was farming. He loved the land, the tractors, the harvests, and most of all the fact that he spent every day doing it beside his late brother Don. Most would say his favorite part of farming though was his cattle. No one loved bringing home a motherless calf and bottle feeding it more than Edward and he could move a herd of cows with one of his “pets” at any time. His greatest joy; however, was his family. His best friend and loving wife of over 72 years, his three daughters, and his three granddaughters. He will be fondly remembered by many for his firm handshakes, warm smiling eyes, and his humble heart. Edward loved God and loved his neighbors and shared his harvests with many over the years. He is now reunited with his brother Don where they will tend the Heavenly fields and gardens of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife Hester Brown of Colquitt, GA; his children, Kathy Brown Hutchins and her husband, Allen of Donalsonville, GA, Lynn Brown of Colquitt, GA; and Sandy Brown Rentz of Bainbridge, GA; his grandchildren, Laura Leigh Hutchins, Isabella Rentz, and Abigail Rentz; his sister, Eloise Holt; and several loved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Brown, Sr., Merlene Dunlap, Carolyn Meredith, Oral Brown, and Max Brown.
